Health disparities among Latinos including farmworkers are significant in rural Illinois. Many are due to issues such as lack of information and/or access, discrimination, and language and cultural barriers.

IMC offers health education workshops, forums and fairs that address health issues for Laino families, including farmworkers, in rural Illinois.

Bilingual health promotores (health educators) disseminate information about health resources and access in coordinations with local health providers and other human services agencies.  They also make referrals for screening services.

Federal and State grants enable IMC to assist those most at risk. IMC networks with the Illinois Ticket for the Cure, county Illinois Public Health Departments  and other health education providers to advocate for improved health education for rural Latinos.

In 2010, the Illinois Public Health Association is partnering with IMC with an Americorps worker in Champaign County.
